About Savage Japan

This photo was taken within a stone’s throw of where I currently reside when living in Japan.
The Philosopher’s Path in Kyoto, Tetsugaku no Michi, is named for Nishida Kitaro who was a prominent 20th century Japanese philosopher. Nishida is said to have walked along this quiet pathway for daily meditation and contemplative purposes. He also taught at nearby Kyoto University.
I feel very fortunate to have this opportunity to explore in Japan from a base location in what is probably the most fascinating city in the world and certainly the most fascinating city in Japan. We will be spending a lot of time outside of Kyoto during these 3 month visits to Japan, but there’s plenty to keep me busy in happy exploration mode right outside my door when I am in Kyoto.
There is a detailed description of the podcast at the top of the permanent left column of this site. The best overall introduction to this project can be found here in the first photo entry at JapanPhotoJournal.com.
For those who want more insight into the connection and differences between the Savage Japan and Savage Snow Podcasts, there is an overly thorough explanation here at the Savage Snow Podcast website.
Thank you for your interest in these recordings.
